This week in Foundation the children have been using an array of beautiful coloured autumn leaves to compare different lengths. We talked about words such as 'shortest' and tallest' and ordered the leaves from smallest to biggest. It has been wonderful to have the children bring in some autumn leaves from home to discuss the seasons and talk about the beautiful colours that are in the garden.
During the first two weeks of Term 2, the children have been immersed in the wonderful and creative books by Eric Carle. These books offer children a chance to learn about the world around them. We have linked these stories into our Literacy and Numeracy program, as well as incorporating Eric Carle's technique of collage into iTime.
It has been a joy to be met by so many smiling and excited faces after the holidays! The children have been showing lots of enthusiasm about reading and writing, so thank you for all the encouragement you have been giving them during the break.
This week we are focussing on the letters Z and I, and the number 8. Anastasia took these fantastic photos about the number 8 today during iTime. |
