Today we were lucky enough to have Carolyn from Edendale Farm visit the students in Foundation. They learnt all about the different sorts of rubbish they create in their homes and the special coloured bins that it should go in. The students enjoyed a rubbish sort race to learn more about which bin is which. I think the teacher's even learnt something about the right bin for the right rubbish!
We are lucky enough to have the very talented teacher, Julie Thornton assist the Founders with their literacy development. She works with small groups of children targeting skills such as: letter and sound knowledge, fine motor, handwriting and the Magic 100 Words. These groups vary depending on the needs of the children and it's lovely to see them experience success with their literacy development.
This week and next week, the Founders will be working on the Maths Talent Quest. The students will be creating a model related to a game or book.
Some Maths concepts which will be covered include: estimation, measurement, designing, building, problem solving, recording, graphing, counting, 3D shapes, addition, subtraction, grouping and sorting. |
