The Foundation students all enjoyed their farm experience last week. The weather was kind to us which enabled a fun day full of new discoveries. Recently Foundation have received some new books for their library. In order for these books to be placed into the classroom they need to be contacted. We are asking for any parent helpers who could please take home a small pile of books and some contact and get the job done. We would really appreciate any help you can offer. Please see Miss Sunderland if you can offer any assistance.
Kind regards, Prep teachers We have recently done a big clean up in our Prep playground and thrown out anything that was broken or unsuitable to play with. Unfortunately, there are not many things left to play with. If you have anything at home which is not in use and just sitting there taking up space, we desperately need donations. Some ideas include small old pots and pans, large trucks and cars, shovels, buckets, short plastic plumbing pipes, sieves, strainers, spatulas, measuring cups, small brooms and furniture for the cubby house. A good sturdy box to store some equipment would be great too!
Please talk to your child’s teacher if you have anything which is in good condition to donate for the playground. Many thanks in advance, Foundation Team. Book Week is taking place during Week 6 of term and all students are invited to come to school on Thursday, 24th August dressed as their favourite book character. As part of the weeks celebration please stay tuned to see your students classroom doorway decorated to celebrate an author.
We look forward to seeing many different and interesting characters at school on the day. https://cbca.org.au/book-week-activities Today we took advantage of some beautiful sunshine and ventured outdoors for maths today. It was all about a class of noisy chickens who were scrambling around the park looking for food. The chickens found some lovely blueberries, oranges, bananas, apples, grass and seeds. Each food was represented with coloured unifix. After the chickens collected all the food, we spent along time sorting the colours, working out which we thought looked the biggest pile and then counting each group. We discovered that by putting the unifix in stacks of 10 we could count each group quickly and accurately. A fun lesson had by all little chickens. See the photos below. The Preps are enjoying listening and singing along to the songs of our upcoming school production, The Lion King. Please click on the link below and read all about this amazing event, featuring our Grade 5 & 6 students. It would be a wonderful experience for our Prep students to go and see the production later on this month. There are plenty of great seats still available!!
http://tppsproduction.weebly.com/event-info.html The Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) is a movement-based program which helps younger students improve their gross motor skills in such areas as eye/hand and eye/foot coordination, fitness, balance, locomotion and eye-tracking skills. This term our Foundation students are participating in PMP during their Sport session, assisted by some devoted parent volunteers. (Thank you!) Here are some photos taken by Mr Kitney of all the fun!
Yesterday we all did 100 exercises to celebrate 100 days of school. We did 10 of each, making 100 altogether! Don't forget to dress up as a 100 year old tomorrow and bring along a zip-lock bag full of 100 little things.
As of this term, if your child orders a juice cup or icy pole with their lunch order, they will need to go down to the canteen to collect it when the bell goes. We will of course remind the children and send them down with a friend.
